Bio

I’m Iona, a young creative living on the Isle of Man!

My current practice has been involving the use of film photography and creating ​graphic design pieces base around the themes of nostalgia, the whimsical and the ​Isle of Man.

My approach

I am a mixed media creator combining analogue and the traditional with ​modern mediums to creative intriguing pieces of work for both my personal ​practice as well as work for my degree in Visual Communication.

BOdy of Work

Small worlds: Homesick

2024 - The zine talks about things young people ​find to be positives about the island opposed to the ​quiet (or mostly loud) resentments about living ​here among an ageing population.

This zine is a subversion of the negative norms, ​instead showcasing the positives.

A DIFFERENT VIEW

2023 - Is a photography project based around the ​idea of a different perspective of the environment ​we live in. In this I focussed on the small details ​hidden in the dilapidated urban scapes of Douglas.

GIRL: ON FILM

2023 - A film magazine aimed at a target audience ​of women rather than the male perspective of the ​current magazine. Written reviews and articles by ​women for women.

Darkside of the moon 50th ​anniversary

2023 - A series of posters created as an alternative ​to the materials produced for the 5Oth anniversary ​of Pink Floyds’ Dark side of the moon.

ODYSSEY BOOK LAUNCH

2024 - A poster created for the promotion of the ​third year degree book launch. This was the basis ​for other promotional materials created for the ​event including social media posts and invites.

Converse Nostalgia camPAIGN

2023 - A mock nostalgia based campaign aimed ​targeting two audiences using print ads and social ​media.
